What are the divisions in the Leinster chess leagues?
The Leinster Chess Leagues have six divisions: the Armstrong Cup (Division 1), Heidenfeld Trophy (Division 2), Ennis Shield (Division 3), O'Hanlon Cup (Division 4), BEA Cup (Division 5) and Bodley Cup (Division 6).
Teams in the Armstrong and Heidenfeld have eight players. The Ennis has seven, the O'Hanlon six, and the BEA and Bodley five.
The top three divisions have up to twelve teams each. The lower divisions are split into geographical groups, such as North and South: up to two groups in the O'Hanlon, three in the BEA and four in the Bodley.
At the end of the season the top teams in each division are promoted and the bottom teams are relegated. Where two divisions have the same number of groups, the first two go up and the bottom two go down. The exact numbers depend on how many groups each division has.
Dún Laoghaire Chess Club has four teams: Heidenfeld (Division 2), Ennis (Division 3), O'Hanlon South (Division 4) and BEA South (Division 5).
