Seamus Duffy on 2. a3 Against the Sicilian

Event

Board diagram after 1. e4 c5 2. a3, with the a-pawn move highlighted in gold

If you play 1. e4 and the Sicilian keeps giving you trouble, come along to the club on Wednesday 4 November at 8pm. Seamus Duffy is giving a presentation on one of his favourite lines against it: 1. e4 c5 2. a3.

An unusual answer to the Sicilian

Most players meet 1…c5 with 2. Nf3 and walk into the mainline theory. 2. a3 goes another way. It’s a sideline, and most Sicilian players won’t have looked at it closely. Seamus will take you through how it works.

Why Seamus

Seamus is one of the strongest players in the club and an experienced chess coach. He has a wide knowledge of chess openings.

Come along

The talk is open to all members, whatever your rating. It should be very instructive and a good chance to pick up some useful opening ideas. Bring your questions, and we hope to see you there.
