Can adults join a chess club?
Yes. Chess clubs are not just for children, and Dún Laoghaire Chess Club welcomes adult members of any age and ability, whether you are new to the game, coming back to it after years away, or already playing competitively.
We meet every Wednesday evening, 19:30–22:30, at the Eblana Club in Dún Laoghaire, so the club fits around a working day. Some members come for a quiet game after work. Others want competitive chess, and play in the club's blitz and rapid tournaments, the club championship and the Leinster leagues.
You do not need a rating to join or to play for a team. You will find players at your level on any Wednesday night.
Ordinary membership is €120 a year, and your first night is free. Sets and clocks are provided, so there is nothing to bring.
